Abstract:With the development of virtual reality (VR) technology, interpersonal trust has acquired new characteristics of technological mediation. To address the limited integration of cognitive and affective mechanisms and insufficient explanations of the dynamic evolution of trust in existing research, this review synthesizes relevant studies and proposes a cognitive-affective dual-pathway mechanism and a dynamic calibration model. The model suggests that interpersonal trust in VR is continuously adjusted through four stages: expectation construction, perceptual comparison, error calibration, and relationship evolution. Drawing on existing research paradigms, this review further proposes approaches to operationalizing the model and corresponding research designs, and discusses future research directions and ethical governance.
