Abstract CiteSpace and VOSviewer software was used to visualize the 1755 articles published in the Chinese Journal of Applied Psychology from 1981 to 2020 to explore the academic influence of the Chinese Journal of Applied Psychology as well as the research highlights and development trends of the applied psychology of China. The results found that the main areas of publications included management psychology, education psychology and psychological assessment. At the forefront of research, children, artificial intelligence and employee voice have become new research frontiers. Highlighting the applied research of management with leadership-subordinates and decision-making as the core, exploring the development of special groups and the application of educational psychology in real lives, and using a variety of methods to investigate the underlying psychological and neural mechanisms of emotion and cognition, etc. are the main trends of applied psychology research in China in the future.
