Abstract In recent 10 years, the research on the antecedent variables of pro-environmental behavior has gradually shifted from the individual internal factors to the social and external factors related to the behavior.In this article, the influencing variables at individual level, group level and social level are systematically summarized, based on which an integrated model with different levels of antecedent variables including micro (individual internal) factors, meso and macro(external situational) factors is proposed. In addition, the intention and behavior are differentiated. According to the theoretical framework of the model, the specific direction of future research on pro-environmental behavior and the enlightenment for environmental protection work in China are discussed.
