Abstract With the further popularization of electronic products and mobile Internet applications, more and more young people spend considerable time on online games. Consequently, relevant problems caused by gaming activities are increasingly prominent. More and more public concerns on Internet gaming disorder (IGD), especially its negative effects on adolescents, have been raised. In this paper, we reviewed the current research progress on IGD from four aspects: definition, diagnosis, related environmental and individual factors, and intervention methods, and then summarized the research trajectory, past and current focused topics of IGD study. Lastly, we proposed a model of adolescent game addiction based on reinforcement learning theory, and put forward the future research direction of adolescent game addiction.
