Abstract To explore the trajectory of changes in college students’ mobile phone addiction (MPA) and its social correlates, this study conducted a cross-temporal meta-analysis of 98 papers to investigate the changes and influencing factors of college students’ MPA during 2010-2020. Results showed that: (1) The score of MPA was significantly positively correlated with year; (2) The changes of six social indicators, including social connectedness and overall threat were key predicting factors for the increase in MPA among college students. In conclusion, the present study discusses the effect of social change on college students’ MPA, and provides a broader vision for the environment intervention of college students’ MPA from the macro-social perspective.
