Abstract Returnees usually face problemsof reverse culture shock and cultural re-adaptation when returning to their home country after living abroad for a period of time. These problems may have consequential impacts on returnee’s cognition, affect, interpersonal relationships and sociocultural adaptation. Our current work sorts out the psychological and behavioral consequences of the reverse cultural shock, and analyzes the conceptual framework and its underlying mental processes. It is our hope that this work would provide scientific evidence and empirical support to better inform the government and higher education institutions regarding policy making.
