Abstract This paper reviews the research field of vehicle driving muscle fatigue with a focus on its physiological mechanism and intervention techniques. Driving muscle fatigue refers to the temporary decline of muscle contraction function caused by long-term continuous vehicle driving. It usually causes different degrees of discomfort and can threaten driving safety. Related to muscles in the neck, shoulder, waist, calf, and other body parts, the main causes of driving muscle fatigue include nerve control dysfunction, muscle metabolite accumulation, hip muscle tissue compression, increased pressure in the lumbar intervertebral disc, and blood flow obstruction in lower limbs. Interventions such as paring, seat heating, and seat massage can significantly mitigate driving muscle fatigue. Future research can explore the application of in vivo real-time detection technology.
