Abstract To elucidate the relationship between anxiety and adolescent health risk behavior, this study employed a random effects model to conduct a meta-analysis of 40 studies. The results revealed a moderate positive correlation between anxiety and adolescent health risk behavior. In the moderation analysis, factors such as types of anxiety, anxiety measurement tools, types of health risk behavior, regions, and educational stages were found to significantly moderate the relationship between anxiety and adolescent health risk behavior, whereas sex did not exhibit a significant moderating effect. This study establishes a foundation for theoretical research on adolescent mental health and provides reference basis for supporting the development of targeted and effective intervention strategies for addressing adolescent health risk behavior.
