| For the Family: One Strategy of Gig Workers Coping with Occupational Stigma |

Abstract This study examines the impact of gig workers’ perceived occupational stigma as a social work characteristic on their work meaningfulness and further explores the role of family-sacrifice attribution in this relationship. We tested the proposed hypotheses using a three-wave survey design and structural equation modeling. The results indicate that family-sacrifice attribution reduces the negative impact of perceived occupational stigma on work meaningfulness and weakens its indirect effect on job change intention via this mechanism. These findings highlight that family-sacrifice attribution among gig workers can effectively buffer the negative consequences of perceived occupational stigma as a social work characteristic.
