Review and Progress of Facial Attractiveness: Based on the Bibliometrics

Abstract：Facial attractiveness, as an important information related to evolution and social perception, has been the focus of attention for a long time. The study presented the state of facial attractiveness research from 1990 to 2019 from a macro perspective by means of bibliometrics. The results showed that the amount of posts in the facial attractiveness has grown exponentially. The theme of the literature has gradually shifted from focusing on facial attractiveness and faces to combining facial attractiveness with social interaction situations and social perception of faces. Finally, the present study outlooked future directions of facial attractiveness.
