Abstract:The continuously declining fertility rate has become a primary factor constraining China's high-quality population development. Based on data from the China General Social Survey (CGSS), this study analyzes the impact of flexible employment on women's fertility intentions and explores the underlying mechanisms. The research indicates that flexible employment has a positive effect on women's overall fertility intentions, as well as their intentions to have a second and third child. This impact varies among different groups of women based on age and education level; the effect is more significant for women over the age of 30 and those with lower levels of education. This calls for encouraging flexible employment for women and improving the social security system to effectively boost their fertility intentions.
