Factors and Theoretical Explanation of Digital Exclusion for Older Adults |

Abstract Digital exclusion refers to the feeling of exclusion caused by the overall level of digitalization in the surrounding environment continues to improve, forcing people to use digital technologies such as the Internet. At this time, elderly people lack the ability to enjoy the convenience brought by digital technology, and even affect their normal lives. This article summarizes the impact of objective and subjective factors on digital exclusion of older adults and relevant suggestions. The theory of competence-environment press theory, relative deprivation theory and diffusion of innovations theory provide theoretical basis for the explanation of digital exclusion. Future research is expected to give more attention to the impact of differences in digital levels within the elderly population, the subjective willingness of the elderly population to use digital technology, and their motivation to use the internet on their sense of digital exclusion, and their motivation for using digital technology on their sense of digital exclusion, to enrich the research results in the field of digital exclusion for the elderly.
